I'm Dancing Smaller!

Thursday, October 10, 2013

126.6 today, so for right now I'm still above 126 more than I'm below. However, today I put on an outfit I bought in July to wear to the Senior Dance and the skirt and belt were obviously too big. Might be the core strength training or perhaps the 4 or 5 pounds I've lost since July. Probably some of both.

Enjoyed the dancing with my hubby and the line dancing, too, today. On Tuesday of this week hubby and I took our first dance lesson ever together. This week we worked on the foxtrot. We probably will continue to take some ballroom dance lessons. I see that hubby's stamina on the dance floor is improving, although he doubted it when I made that comment. I think he enjoys it and I know I do. Some other ballroom dance opportunities are available around town that I think we can work into our current child care and other schedule. Not sure we'll want to compete in the dance events at the Senior Games, but you never know.

Do you enjoy dancing? What kind of dancing do you do?? Do you consider it part of your exercise program or just activity???

Sounds like you're having the most fun possible while exercising- and including hubby, too! . I just got some dance work out DVD's. If I had to pick a TV program to emulate, in which people lose weight, I'd pick Dancing with the Stars over Biggest Loser.

I love dancing but until my weight drops some more, and my staminea increases, I most likely won't do too much. Instead, I love working out to music. Music makes me want to move. Good job with the dancing. I'm glad that you've found something both you and Gary like - that you can do together! emoticon

Israeli folk dance. I never thought of it as exercise but it certainly qualifies.
I'm off to a workshop this weekend with DD#2.

I have two left feet! Even when given lessons I can't remember more than 2-3 steps at a time and am always getting confused. So.. not for me, but you GO GIRL!

I loved to dance, but just don't have the lung capacity to do that anymore. Sure miss doing many things of this nature. Enjoy while you can.

DH and I have taken many sessions of ballroom dance classes over many years and we never get any better at it or remember anything from one round of classes to the next -- but we have enjoyed it, and it certainly is a great workout!!

Hubby and I took dancing lessons 2 years ago, but the instructor tried to teach too many dances in too few sessions. We didn't practice enough to remember what we learned. We've asked the community ed director to have her come back this winter and just teach one or two dances and then spend the rest of the time actually dancing. It was fun, though!

I love to dance, but don't..... I had planned to take Line Dancing this fall, but missed out on it... Ballroom dancing always interested me, but need a partner...

What a way to get exercise and feel good and be in your dh's arms..... Sounds like win, win, win to me!

I haven't taken dance classes. In college I did some swing, but mainly I just like to move with whatever music I'm listening to.

Zumba is the only dancing I do, and that is plenty! I could easily see myself trodding on a poor partner's feet LOL. Truly am uncoordinated. Took a lot of learning to finally get some of the Zumba dance steps! Especially the tango -my knees and feet simply don't want to go that way!!
So glad you and hubby are getting into it -its a fun way to be active and it sounds like he could use some activity in his life!

My hubby and I love to dance but it's got to be good ol' rock 'n roll!
I also turn on classic rock music, get on my mini trampoline and jump, bounce and dance. It's great exercise and because I love the music and love to dance the time flies and even when I get tired I don't want to quit. Another good song comes on and I want to keep going! Dancing is excellent exercise for me just because I love it and don't want to quit.

I signed DH & I up for line dance lessons right after we married (2 mo) and it almost got us divorced!! Fast forward 20 years, we signed up for some ballroom lessons and the teacher quit after 2 sessions! Guess we are not destined to learn to dance!

Dancing lessons are always a fun way to learn.
We do the foxtrot, polka, waltz and jitterbug.
Funny names but just plain fun. HUGS!
