I got my sixth weekly infusion of taxol chemo yesterday. It marks the half way point for that chemo. I will have my last taxol the day before Thanksgiving. Needless to say, this Thanksgiving will be a very specail one for us.
I am still going great with this chemo. Amazingly, I still have enough hair to pass as normal. It's gotten very fine, but hey, a lot of people have very fine hair.
For the third week in a row, my blood tests immediately prior to chemo have all come back normal. I'm amazed by that. Usually, red and white blood cell counts go down more and more each week. Mine have actually gone up! I think the juicing I'm doing and all the other healthy, clean eating is making a huge difference there.
In terms of side effects of the chemo, they have all been very mild and easily managable. I couldn't be happier.
In December and January, I will be getting a different chemo that is known for much stronger side effects, but even with that chemo, some people don't have much trouble with it. People react differently, so it's hard to predict. I figure I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
On a different subject, I've been reading and practicing a lot of "mindfulness" meditation lately. It has been a huge help to me in terms of stress reduction and focusing on the present. Cancer is a great motivator for practicing mindfulness or living in the moment. I'm really liking what being able to reign my thoughts into the present is doing for me. It's a wonderful way to be.
It's all good!
