Full blown cold

Thursday, October 10, 2013

Yep, woke up this morning and my eyes were sealed shut with stuff. Yuck. and have almost no voice. this will be my first experience with a cold and having autoimmune disorders. I emailed my doctor to know if I could take something for the aches and pains. I know I have to be careful as to what I can take since I am taking prednisone and Immuran. It's a bummer as I just don't have my normal energy. Everything seems like a chore. I know I didn't get this though from the grandkids as it would be too soon. I think I got it from the man next to me on the airplane as he was coughing an sneezing. I told my DH that I think I will go to the pharmacy and buy a mask to wear when I fly so that I don't breath in germs. It's a catch 22 situation. I have to be on the immune suppressant drugs to keep my immune system from attacking me but that makes me more susceptible to germs and stuff. So I do have to be careful. Oh well will see how this goes. I just feel bummed that I don't have as much energy to play with the grandkids.

And today I am supposed to hook up with 4 girlfriends that I went all through school with from elementary to high school and their mothers who live where my mother lives. I will get it together and go but might not stay for the part where we will go out to dinner. There is cocktail party first and then we are walking to an Italian place. I can't have gluten so not my favorite place to go. Anyway I am going to play it by ear and perhaps leave before the dinner....also not excited about driving in the dark. But we will see how it goes.

I hope you all are doing terrific today. I know what I have is temporary. I will survive but praying that I won't have a flare up and have to go on IV.
Have a great day.
Sallie

That happened to me with going to my doctor after I had surgery on my foot and I also have lupus. My doctor had a cold and even though he stayed away from me I still came down with it. So I got my vitamin C and took it three times a day and the cold only lasted a week and that surprised me because it usually last over a month and then turns into pneumonia and then I end up in the hospital, but not this time,. I got some good qualilty vitamin C and it kicked it in a week. I was so happy and surprised.. Get well soon!! emoticon

Have you ever taken Wal-Born? You can buy it over the counter. I take it at the first sign and it has helped me stay well. My immune system is not what I would like for it to be, so I avoid crowds and have been able to say away from colds for the last three years. Hope you can nip this in the bud.

I hope you are feeling better soon. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I had the 'yuck' a couple of weeks ago, and honestly it took about TEN DAYS to feel like myself again. The cold was bad and the medicine gave me 'medicine head.' That was the first time I have been sick in years, and I was very whiny. Being sick is the pits. Take care of yourself, and don't let it get down in your chest because then it really feels bad.

HUGS
Pam

So sorry to hear you caught a bug! Ugh! And I kept from visiting with you to not give you my bug while you were here... : /. Guess that is the way it goes. Air travel always exposes us to tons of germs. I really hope there is something you can take to help.
Hope you can still enjoy that get together today. emoticon emoticon

Awwwww shucks! Sorry you have a cold. It's just not easy, is it! Take care of one thing and it leaves you susceptible to 2 others! Hope you feel better.

Flying . . . OMG. Like sitting in an incubator. All you need is one hacking, sneezing person and POOF. Closed ventilation system. . . . doomed! Add to it the fact that your in pressurized cabin which makes sure that any germs get into your respiratory system and it's a recipe for . . . a cold.

Hope you can enjhoy your get together. Take care of you. Chicken soup, anyone???
HUGS. Feel better.

    Oh Sallie,
So Sorry you've picked up a cold. emoticon & emoticon
Seems every time we fly we manage to get some respiratory cold. Didn't used to happen.
Hope it passes quickly. It would be a shame to not be able to meet with your school friends and the Moms. I think that's a good plan to do the cocktail bit, and skip the dinner. The bad thing is, that it gets dark so early here now.

Today's damp rainy weather, here in S.E.PA, won't help. emoticon

Sending wishes for strength, to muddle through, and feel better soon.

Oh, geez- hope it's a mild one and doesn't mess up your nice balance you have gotten yourself to.
My week 2 with a nasty one starts today (I remember exactly when it started) and I'm just getting over it- had a week of extreme fatigue- so not like me.
