Even the dog ran a half-marathon

Thursday, October 10, 2013

I have visions of running a half-marathon. I can do 6 miles plus change now and it's taken me over a year to get there. I'm not complaining--I like to take it slow. But I think my time may be next year, and that makes me all tingly.

Here's Boogie, the wandering Labrador who slipped into a half-marathon race in Indiana:

Race officials report, "Because he did not officially enter the race, we do not have his race times. However, we are confident he set a new course record for an unassisted dog.

According to the Associated Press, Boogie finished the course in 2 hours, 15 minutes and beat the times of 1,128 race participants.

All this despite the fact he has twice the number of legs to move and I'm pretty sure he made a few pit stops along the way!

How cool is that? My Brother's Dog is making them healthier because of her demand to be walked. In the fresh air is much better than around the Super Market as I do. But I have to hang on to, the shopping cart. emoticon

Woo hoo to the thought of a 1/2! :-)

I'm sticking with my 5K for now and highly doubt I'll ever nudge that bar much further

Now: a cross-country cycling adventure? So PSYCHED over the thought of even approaching such an accomplishment!

I'm confident you could do a half if you can run 6 miles comfortably!

Cute! If a labrador can do it so can we! Good for you taking your progress slow. That's the way to build a life-long habit and avoid injury.

Here's to next year!
