Feeling lucky!! OMG Lucky!!

Thursday, October 10, 2013

So on my Friday I hit a grocery store on the way home, I didn't find the foods I thought I would find, but still this stop caused me to miss traffic (I count this as a win!!) I called back a friend on the drive home, she had stopped by my house and dropped of some squash and noticed that my Annabelle (aka Annie) was missing....

Well Miss Annie is afraid of the world, new house offers a great hidey spot for a fearful dog, so I didn't think too much of this till I got home and I only had one dog greeting me..

I ended my call and started calling for my Annie and after opening my gate she showed up. Yes I felt this was odd, but I figured she had been in the back of the lot chasing an interesting smell as I was over an hour late from my normal time home. I was just happy that she wasn't out and at large as she would never ever let anyone but me approach her.

I went inside and then I unloaded the groceries, changed clothes, did work dishes etc. I was home for at least 20 minutes and then I noticed that Jake had run towards the back of the house and then outside (via the many windows). Color me surprised!! I walked towards the back doors (yes I have two back doors and they are not visible from the main house) and I thought oops the door wasn't closed all the way by me and the winds had blown it open. This was not the case!!

The door was jimmied open, yes I called the police immediately (they arrived quickly) and they agreed that the door was jimmied open, the odd thing was that nothing, absolutely nothing was missing or moved!! They thought it might have been meant for another house.

My property management company has an awesome handyman and he fixed my door, winterized my cooler and on top of that he fixed my bathroom faucet!!

I do have to say that I did have another tech come out to set up the heater and he was extremely creepy, made my skin crawl!! I was saved further conversation by a co-worker stopping by and creepy guy left in a hurry, this is after 2 hours of trying to dodge talking to him!! Yes all doors and windows are locked and due to the break in I am still on extra patrol with PD.

When I first moved into this rental there was some duck tape on the busted in door stating to not use the dead bolt, I removed the tape and determined that the dead bolt worked, but follower of rules that I am, I didn't use this dead bolt. Yes this is the door that was pried open.

Looking back I think this was a message posted by the previous tenant (family member that use to live here who is now deceased) who was related to home owners. I am hoping that the intruder didn't know that they were deceased and after discovering that the home had a new tenet they just left or the dogs scared them off. Knowing my dogs I vote for the first option!! FYI I am the first person to rent this property. I live in a small town and I am very comfortable with the local police department and yes I feel very secure!!

I am hoping that this is a mistake and that they are a friend of the previous tenant. Though if the dogs scared them off, well that would be great too!

Pups on the job..... emoticon

On a high/good note I am 10 pounds down!! Yes this is awesome, yes I am happy!!

emoticon with me and have a great day!!!!!

So glad your doggie was found. But creepy with the intruder. Hopefully there is a reasonable explanation. So glad nothing was taken.

Yikes! Very scary. I'm glad it turned out well. Does your job give you an "in" with the local police? I hope so!

Please give the pups some love from me. I'm glad they are OK and I vote for them scaring off the intruder(s)! Maureen would have licked them to death. Ha!

Sending lost of hugs!

Wow! Congrats on losing that 10 pounds. Just wanted to agree with you that having multiple dogs can give you a feeling of safety. I've got 9 right now, all sizes, and they sleep all over the house. No one could break in without being greeted by a snarling dog. With more to follow with the first bark. Hope you have a great day too, Linda

Wow you are very lucky, I'd be careful I mean you don't know what scared that person away and if he'll come back. When I was single my apartment got broken into and the cops told me they usually come back for stuff they couldn't get the first time which really shocked me.
I'm glad you have two alert dogs to make you aware of anything going on during the night, be safe!!!!!!!!!
AND......... congrats on the 10 lbs!
