Side effect of a lunch time stroll.

Wednesday, October 09, 2013

Every day I take a half hour walk at lunch. Because itís been so hot, Iíve stayed on the covered walk way that circles my office building.

But today it was a gorgeous 86 degrees and there was a wind (I love wind). So I took a stroll downtown. Just by chance I wandered down a side street; where, out of the blue, in the last place youíd expect to find it, was the historical remnants of a Spanish fort from 1775.

Anyone can wander in off the street and take a look at what life was like for the soldiers and their families in the 1770s.

I had no clue it was even there. Apparently, no one in my office was aware of it either.

Itís amazing the little treasures you discover when you take the side streets.

Isn't it nice to make new discoveries. I have found pathways that I didn't know existed on my lunch time walks.
