This is a reminder, to those who still live up north, that summer will soon end. To those who have escaped the northern winters and yearn to go back home, this is a reminder how it was. And to those who never lived up north, a reminder of how lucky you are.

I live in Michigan, and believe me, summer has gone the way of the girdle for the year!!

Not my choice to stay here during the insane winter months, dream is to retire to someplace warm near water for about six months of the year, stay here in the Upper Peninsula for the warm months. My red maple tree in teh front yard is my winter barometer..It tells me that its' leaves are now curling and turning rusty color, so snow will be flying within a few weeks.
Michiganders are savvy enough to prepare by gathering their longjohns, mukluuks, snow scrapers, shovels, parkas, gloves, mittens, boots and scarves for leaving the house every day. A crate with tow chains, kitty litter, flares, flashlights, blankets, food and heat socks, pillow, etc is essential.. if we slide into a deep(10 foot)ditch and get covered by snow with the plow, we might end up in our car for days..

I will thumb wrestle you for that trip to the Caymans... emoticon emoticon

Summer has ended in the northeast. Fall is in full bloom. Trees losing leaves, crisp morning air, and dark evenings. I'd rather be in the Virgin Islands right now.
