Early yesterday morning, my brother was outside with the dog, and saw a shooting star. About 20 miles away, my mom took her last breath and peacefully passed away.
We spent the morning with my dad, making arrangements and saying goodbye to my mom. There were lots of phone calls to make to friends and family, and thank goodness I was prepared with a list of who needed to be called, and who could pass information on to others.
It's sad to say I'm glad it's over. I will miss my mom. Her quality of life over the past few years hasn't been very good, so I'm happy that she is again able to do what she wants to do when she wants to do it. Dancing was one of her favorite things as a young woman. In the last 15 years, she didn't walk steadily, so there wasn't any dancing for her, other than in her mind.
My mom was a Girl Scout Leader, and very involved in the church. Lots of people are sharing good memories of her with our family. It's nice to listen to and see their memories on Facebook.
