Day 70: The Soda Dilemma
Wednesday, October 09, 2013
Hope everyone is having a great day so far. I know I am. I've got several projects I'm getting started on and it has brought me to a bit of a dilemma. I'll get to that in a little bit though. I want to tell you all about my exciting projects first in the order of when they'll happen. (I may have a slight case of OCD where such things are concerned)
Very Soon I will be opening an Etsy store for the holiday season! I'll be selling homemade Christmas Ornaments! This of course means I'll be spending lots of time making them. This will be something I can do during the days to keep me busy before I start work and it won't get in the way of me working out because I'll be able to jump on my elliptical from time to time to take a break.
NaNoWriMo, you'll hear me talking a lot about this in the future. National Novel Writing Month happens every November and basically the goal is to write a complete novel (50,000 words) inside that month. This will be the second year I've participated and hopefully my first year winning. I will however miss two days at the very start for another project of mine...
Extra Life. I will be taking part in a 25 hour long gaming marathon on November 2nd. I'll be playing an online game called Guild Wars 2 to raise money for UC Davis Children's Hospital in Northern California. And this is where my dilemma comes in. I'll have to stay awake, alert, and active for 25 hours straight. And being allowed no more than 10 minutes break every couple of hours I'll spend most of my time stuck at my computer. I have lots of great chair exercises thanks to the Chair Exercise team, but in the past two years while I've done this event I've relied on caffeine to pull me through. Over the last two months I've done something I never thought I would be able to do and quit dark sodas. I do still drink 7Up, and yes, about once every two weeks I will have a dark soda. But I've gone from a 2 liter bottle a day to a 2 liter bottle every 2 months. I don't drink coffee and I've never found caffeine in tea to be noticeable. So how do I keep myself going? I'm worried that if I start drinking large amounts of Coke again that I'll end up falling back into my old habits. I also don't want to eat my way through the marathon, something which would also help me stay awake. So, I need advise, how do you keep your energy levels high throughout a long day?
Thanks for all the help, we're half way through the week already. Nearly there!
