So just a week and a half in to my couch to 5k running program and I already have an injury. I had a pain start about a month ago (beginning of September) in my right side that would come and go. I ignored it until last Wednesday when I went running and had to stop after 10 minutes from excruciating pain. I went home and laid down on the couch until it subsided. I couldn't go to the doctor until Monday because of a previous commitment to take the church confirmation class on a retreat this weekend. I had the fear that it was my gallbladder and I wasn't ready to go in for surgery yet.
So, yesterday I went to the clinic and they told me it was just a severely pulled muscle. I probably did the most damage to it on Wednesday somehow. My doctor put it in the notes on my chart that I am to stay out of the gym for two weeks. This blows! On the positive side, I have some muscle relaxers that enable me to sleep better than I have in awhile, probably because of the pulled muscle.
