8k training....

Tuesday, October 08, 2013

Okay, so I have til November 26th, I think, to prepare for my 8k...

So I downloaded a training plan that I was going to follow....and it wanted me to run like 5 times a week....well between job 1 during the week, zumba, pump, my new core class, running, and job 2 on the weekend, my down time for some of my nights includes supper and going to bed at an ungodly early hour because I literally can't keep my eyes open any longer....that and I also get headaches if I run too fast in the heat...

So I have ran two times in two weeks to start my preparations....I think my new 8k will include a normal 3 mile run Tuesday, speed work on Thursday/Saturday (wherever it fits better), and a long run on Saturday/Sunday...I just need to actually keep running...I know I can run an 8k Ina about an that is my goal to beat....

That being said, week number one I ran 3 miles in 35 minutes....

Today, I ran 3.1 miles in 35 minutes....

But did you catch that
Yes, I said "run" because I actually ran....I ran all three miles the first time only stopping to check inflections or wait for cars....
My run today was in a different area, and much more hilly and in the sun, so I stopped twice to walk....

But seriously? How cool is that? A year ago at this rate, I couldn't run more than 3 minutes...and now I can run 3 miles....

Sometimes, you ave to admit, the body is an amazing thing....

Happy sparking my friends!

Great job! I love how the body responds when you regularly ask it to do something.

I also train for much longer distances on only 3-4 runs/week. You'll be fine at three runs a week for an 8k.

Well done. I run 3 times per week, and that seems to be plenty to get it done. Of course I don't set any land speed records. emoticon
