I find it sad that they were kind of practicing a healthy lifestyle, with the calorie restriction and the exercise. It wouldn't be as fast, but that is a really good start to not paying for a CRAZY procedure. I'd love to drop 20# in a month, but the reality is doing it that way I wouldn't have learned the skills necessary to continue losing weight and keep it off.

Our society (in general), is driven towards the quick-fix. Doesn't seem to matter if its a permanent solution or even a healthy one.
Self imposed negative reinforcement....its just sad.

I remember seeing this on the news. YUCK!
This just seems like a cop out to me - a refusal to take personal responsibility for yourself and your actions. Eating right, exercising and being healthy is a lot more fun way to do it - and much less miserable. So sad that there are people out there figuring out things like this surgery to take advantage of people who are desperate. there is always a better way than self-abuse.

I saw this story! Couldn't believe it. C'mon, people. I guess there are those who are going to go to the risk and expense of having something SEWN on their TONGUE ... and make that choice over a little work, planning, and movement. It blows my mind.

Anything except focus their minds on eating healthy foods, take the time to measure portions, start an exercise regime....

    APPARENTLY.

I'm horrified. What a terrible way it must be to feel like you need to undergo a painful procedure that teaches you to BE AFRAID OF EATING. Eating is necessary for life! It's not about NOT EATING; it's what and how much.

I partly want to be disgusted, but mostly I'm just sad for them. Sad because I've been there (never had a weird surgery, but did the extreme dieting thing) and I wish everyone knew what we knew - that you CAN do it by controlling your calorie intake! And sad because that desperation is just so sad. If you're willing to endure that kind of pain you must feel like it's your last resort.

Okay, and also a little sad that there are women who feel like they can't "begin dating" because they weigh 169 lbs.... I mean. What. I was at least 230 when I met my husband, guess I shouldn't have dated him! ???? O_o

Oh my gosh!!! At 305 lbs, would I have been willing to go to those lengths had I not found SP? I can't say for sure I wouldn't. Except I wouldn't have been willing to pay the money. Thank goodness I found the voice of reason.
