So...I Got a Puppy...

Tuesday, October 08, 2013

Yeah, I got a puppy. Seeing her and getting her made me realize I'm not quite ready for a new dog, but my husband sure is. He had, like, hearts coming out of his eyes like a cartoon character when he saw her. Ah-OOO-ga! emoticon

Oh, and she's sweet. She's pretty and silly and smart. We named her Daisy. She's just not mine, yet, but she will be. Probably won't take too long. She's quite lovable. =)

My husband didn't care too much for Sammy when we first got him. It took him three months or so to really become friends with him. At one point, he wanted to give him back. And really, husband never had a choice with Sammy. I saw him, I was in love, and that was it. He was going to be ours, and there was no discussion. I try not to do that too often, because it isn't nice, but this was SAMMY we were talking about. So I get it that it might not happen instantly, and that's okay.

I think Sammy approves. I don't know how much any of you are into this woo woo stuff, but the pictures I saw only really showed her face, but when I got there, her coloring was just like Sammy's. Which, okay, a fawn and white dog isn't THAT special, but she has this big fawn spot on her back, and right in the middle of that spot, is a white spot. Sammy had the EXACT same marking on him, as well. I'd like to think it's a message...

So I know what you all are thinking, get to it, Brenda, we want a photo. Here she is:

Just saw your blog, couple of months late. I hope your new family member is all adjusted and you are all in love by this point. I can't even imagine how difficult it was to transition from your loss to a new dog, but time and love heals and I hope you found lots of new love with your new puppy.
Happy HOlidays!

Awww... it is important that you allow your heart to heal some more... but I also know that I believe in signs. When my poodle Joey died, I was really sad. I went to look at a puppy, while I was sick with a raging fever and just wanted to cheer myself up, and there was my Anna... a baby Shih Tzu in a puppy cage with an apricot poodle puppy that looked just like Joey. I was shocked but felt that it was a sign from Joey that this was an OK pup! And she is! She just turned 5 and gets sweeter with age. I'm so sorry you lost your baby... but seeing the colors repeat themselves sure is life affirming. I hope you grow in friendship together and enjoy being friends for many, many years to come!

    "Happiness is a warm puppy"

One love does not replace another. The love you feel for Sammy, though he is gone will remain, and you can love anew as well. You don't have to let go one to enjoy the other. You are still the kind and generous soul you were with Sammy. Remember to give yourself some of that care and understanding too.

I am so happy that you got a new dog. It is difficult to throw your heart out there again. But you have to realize that Daisy is not taking Sammy's place in your heart. No one can do that. Sammy has his spot, and Daisy will have hers. We used to have a Great Dane named Daisy. That dog was crazy, but that's another story. LOL Enjoy getting to know Daisy and keep the pictures coming! ~hugs~

Congratulations. Thanks for giving Daisy a home. Sometimes the way to mend a void in a broken heart is to let another one in. I wish you and your family the best. emoticon

Happy for all of you! And it's wise of you to understand that the love will come. Very cool that the markings echo Sammy's--I would read that as a sign too!
