Tuesday--October 8, 2013--BLC 23 Is what you make it

This is the second week of the BLC 23 and I thought it would be good to reflect back on when I started BLC 21 and what has kept me doing the BLC.
When I first started BLC21, I was really determined to lose weight. However, I was not prepared for all the work I would need to do to change my lifestyle. I really thought our captain was a tyrant with a whip requiring me to do challenges, track everything, chat on the page, sparkfriend the whole team and then also join facebook. Was she kidding??? How would I have time for all of that, learn to eat healthier, get my exercise in, take care of my family and work 40 hours a day?
The answer was simple--I needed to change. I needed to commit to become a healthier me and put myself first. All of the requirements of BLC helped me to change my eating habits, increase my fitness routine, find support with others along my journey and also get that accountability that was missing. I had tried to lose weight by myself numerous times and was not successful. I found that my team members and captains were along on the journey with me. They selflessly shared their journeys with us including the good, the bad and the ugly.
To all of the newbies on BLC23--you need to commit to the team challenges and requirements. You will be paid back 10 fold because you will become healthier, stronger and happier. BLC is what you make of it. Put yourself first and get going on the challenges, get to know your team members, ask questions but most of all, take care of you.
What do I think of my captain now? She is an inspiration and a true friend and I wouldn't be where I am at now without her, my co-captains and the administration. Where else can you go and get the support and accountability for free. I am now a co-captain on my team and look forward to helping others on their journey to a healthier lifestyle.
