I actually had a really great day today. It began bright and early with boot camp which was particularly tough today. I could barely keep my eyes open when I got home.
Still, a quick bath and off I went to drop hubby at work, while my sister and I went and had coffee and made plans for putting my house on the market. With them moving, the home really is very big and takes a load of maintenance. I'm ready for something small and neat and relatively maintenance free.
However, I still have to approach the agents and talk. Things in SA are down at the moment, the economy is awful and houses aren't exactly walking off their books. Mine is a in a good location, fully walled, and paved and still a big spacious place....still, there are things needing fixing. I will wait till the end of the year then find out what should be done, and what can be left etc.
After coffee we went shopping, bought some super healthy foods for my fridge and nuts, avo's, tinned fish etc for my grocery cupboard. Things are looking good again. I have been 100% so far today and its already 6pm so I think its safe to say I've got this one in the bag.
Once I got home, I took my friend Carols dress that she cut and edged easily 7-10 ago and never completed??? She doesn't know why she didn't complete it either. I found several of these cut/edged/incomplete garments in her box last night when I went visiting. Some must have hems to be done, others side seams...really odd.
Anyway, she lost the pattern for this particular dress and I offered to take it home and look at it. I can manage without a pattern. Generally I use patterns just for sizing, then pack them away anyway and work freehand. For my efforts, she gave me a piece of material big enough for me to make something for myself....how fabulous is that. She decided that I don't have enough peachy colors in my clothes, so gave this piece to me. Its a bit blurred but you can at least see the colors and print.
I packed the pieces out this morning to see what was what.
It didn't end up being that difficult. I could tell within minutes that it was a country style dress with tie backs. I sewed the pieces together and ironed the tie backs flat.
Then put it all together and hung it up so she could see the end result. I have mailed the pictures to her.
I love the colors and think the dress will really suit her. Lets hope she hasn't changed shape since she first cut the dress out.....then she'll have to wait a few months before she can get into it. She has joined me at boot camp. LOL she is somewhere between hating me and boot camp and getting it done. Guess its not easy to begin exercising at the age of 64. She's a plucky woman that's for sure.
Anyway, I leave you with these words which are actually amazing and real food for thought.
I hope the picture is big enough for you to read them, if not, I'll have to type them out because they are very motivating to get us all cracking and doing what we have to do.
