Crafts With Kelly

Monday, October 07, 2013

I have a problem. I collect dog collars. Some people collect knick knacks or stamps, but not me. Because I love dog collars so much, I decided to try making some. So last weekend I went to Michael's and bought the supplies to try making knotted paracord dog collars. These are my results . . .

This is the first one I made, in teal and purple. It's 13" tip to tip, including the clasps. I need to perfect my sizing, as this one is just a teensy bit tighter than I'd like on my guys.

This is the second one I made - this one is too big at 17". But I like the colours!

This is one that a friend asked me to make. She's making a sock monkey jacket for Farley, so I'm making her a collar.

It's a fun craft and the collars take about 45 minutes to make from start to finish. Not bad - I can get one done during a TV show. This way I can add to my collection without breaking the bank! Next I hope to learn to make leashes, so they can have matching sets :)
