Dang, my post disappeared!

Okay, I posted this once already, going to try again. I haven't posted in years, I'm thinking that writing a blog would really help keep myself responsible.

I am waiting to get in to see my doctor b/c I've been having female issues for over a year. When I called they couldn't get me in until the end of the month, so I guess they aren't too worried even though I am!

Background info: about 9 years ago I was diagnosed with polyosystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) by my gynecologist who ran blood tests and decided that was the problem. I did not have an ultra sound to confirm she said with the symptoms and the blood work results that it was enough to confirm. She told me that if I took birth control that I would be good to go.

A few years later I asked my general practitioner about it and she told me that I didn't have enough extra facial hair and I wasn't obese enough. (Isn't there a nicer way that she could have said that???) So that was the end of the story with her. Didn't matter that another doctor had run blood tests.

So I just recently started researching PCOS (this weekend actually) to try to figure out what is going on. I had no idea that with PCOS I am more likely to develop diabetes and heart disease. Shouldn't someone have talked with me about this 10 years ago???? So I'm going to try to eat a lower carb diet this week and see how I feel and how my weight goes. It has been a battle lately to drop even an ounce.

I made lentil barley swiss chard soup from sparkrecipes.com to take for lunch or dinner. I also go some pre-packaged salad to alternate with the soup between dinner and lunch. For breakfast I have boiled some eggs and I also have almonds w/greek yogurt. I will rotate these for breakfast too. I have small apples for a snack as well as cut up red pepper slices and humus. I am going to be sure to take a snack with me to eat on the way home because I tend to be ravenous when I get home and eat all kinds of junk. I know it's a lot of the same for the week but nobody else will eat the soup in my family so I figured I better make use of it! I will switch it up some next week.

I am hoping that I feel a change and see a change by doing this. I am going to continue to walk as often as possible, usually at least 3 times a week for a half hour if not more. I asked my husband to help me bring up the stationary bike from the basement so I can switch thing up a little to. He said he would clear out space so I can use it in the basement with the tv down there. He wanted to bring it up and put it in the extra bedroom upstairs, but there is no tv or radio in that room and there is no way I can sit on a stationary bike and not watch tv or do something. Plus the whole idea is to do it once the kids are in bed and I think I'd keep them up if I was doing it upstairs. I'm hoping I can get him to move it up b/c I don't think that he'll clean out the downstairs, it has too much crap. Grrr.

Wish me luck! I'm going to try to blog each day, we'll see how it goes!

  Keep up the fight and good work. You can do it. Stay on track and stay positive. Make sure you eat ever 2 to 3 hours this way you don't get hungry too much to give into bad stuff. Make sure your yogurt is not filled with tons of sugar, sometimes getting regular yogurt is better since it's not so processed and filled with sugar. Good luck.

    Sounds like you're taking positive steps for your own well-being. . .you def need to take charge cause no one else if going to give you the good attention you can give to yourself.
