Food allergy walk update

Sunday, October 06, 2013

We went with our neighbors. As of last night, they had no sponsors. Since we were carpooling and she was driving her vehicle, I sponsored her. The kid and I managed to raise a total of $210.

The walk is a fantastic place to get boatloads of free samples and coupons. I've got snacks for the kid and I for weeks!

The bad news was the weather. It was a light rain at first. And then it was a good steady rain. The kids played on the jumpies and pretty much got soaked. It was a bit chilly too. After we gathered them up, we had pretty much talked ourselves out of actually walking. Yes, bad walk-a-thon people. But the boys were all in denim. I didn't even have pockets to shove my hands in. Insert more whiney excuses here. SO we packed the kids in to the car to warm up before we made the final decision. And that was the nail in the coffin. Off we went telling ourselves we raised the money and really that was what it was all about.

This left me with one small problem. Not nearly enough cardio/steps. So I treadmilled for the amount of time I figured it would take me to walk without 4 kids. Made it.

Next year, if the weather report is similar, we'll dress better. We were assured the rain would stop by the walk time. It got harder instead. Sorry folks.

Well you raised a good amount of money and that, like you said, was what was important. You made up for your lack of steps plus you avoided having a bunch of sick kids this week.... long story short.... right decision!! emoticon
