For a few months now, I've had a goal set for myself to meditate for ten minutes a day. Every day that I've tracked my Sparkgoals, it's been there staring up at me: meditate for ten minutes. And I just kept ignoring it, feeling slightly guilty that I hadn't checked the box for completion.
Today, I finally did it! What changed? I've been reading this book called Undoing Perpetual Stress whi talks about the effects of the constant stress of our 21st century lifestyles. It convinced me to take meditation more seriously as a way to revive both mind and body.
Since I am a beginning meditator, my goal for now is ten minutes a day. The book actually recommends 30-60 minutes a day of meditation and other mindfulness activities. I'll start with ten and see how it goes. I'm focusing on my breath, "in...out" since I don't have any other specific mantra that I use.
Anyone a regular meditator? Do you practice mindfulness? If so, what techniques if any do you use?
