I awoke this morning to gray skies, but when I looked outside the street was still dry. Good, I thought, I can still get my walk in. As I drank my coffee, I checked the weather forecast. Cool and rainy today, starting after 10am. Good, I thought, I can still get my walk in. Got my second cup of coffee, and noticed the street was wet. Drat, I thought, I don't want to walk in the rain!
I debated whether I'd go or not, got my shoes on, my hat on, and my headphones. I started walking, and it was drizzly. I kept walking, and it was raining! Hmm, I thought, do I really want to get soaking wet? I took a short detour from my normal route, to see how I felt about walking in the rain. It would be easier to turn around and go home if I decided I didn't like the weather. In any event, I'd have my minimum minutes done for the day. As I went along, it wasn't so bad. Not too too cold, and as I reached the end of my detour, I decided to head along my normal route.
Good, I thought, I'll get my walk in after all. It's so nice to listen to some music, and just take in the sights around me as I move along. The air was cool and extra-fresh, due to having been freshly-washed by the autumn showers. I watched leaves fall from the trees, drifting slowly down to the ground. Shortly after I resumed my normal walking route, the rain stopped. I walked past a pond, ducks were quacking and floating in the middle of the water. I decided to turn my music off and enjoy some quiet, other than the sound of my sneakers hitting the pavement. Besides the rare vehicle going by, and one yappy dog sounding the alarm from his yard, it was so peaceful! That's what I love about walking, it is so relaxing.
I felt so refreshed and happy to be moving through the scenery, glad to get my walk done!
