Epiphany!!!

I've had an epiphany...

I loathe running/jogging. Its sooooooooo boring to me! But I felt I "HAD" to do it to lose weight and get into shape. I said I wanted to run another 5K, but when it comes down to it, I really don't want to. Anyway, I'm starting to dread going to the gym and getting on the treadmill. I shouldn't have to dread working out. So I've decided that I'm just not going to do it anymore. Why waste my time doing something I don't like doing when there are so many other things I can be doing that I do enjoy? Walking, biking, elliptical, classes, swimming.....all other great forms of cardio!

Anyway, I was introduced to Tabata training by one of my BLC23 teammates. I did a session tonight and it kicked my butt! But I loved it and it was not BORING at all! This was the workout I did tonight: www.fitsugar.com/10-Minu

I plan on doing Tabata training 1-2 times a week, along with my other exercise routines. That should get my butt into shape quickly!

    I hate running on the treadmill as well, the only way I enjoy running anymore is outside! Glad you found something you enjoy! It makes it SO much easier to do!

    Good for you, Stacey! I struggled with running too, but read an article by Coach Nicole that struck a cord with me. She said to pick activities / exercise that you actually enjoy and will stick with. She also encourages switching the types and intensity occasionally to challenge your body. I've tried to do this for 2 years with lots of success.

Now I walk, dance, swim, bike, and vary my ST routines. I'll have to check out Tabata at the gym.

    I know what you mean. you couldn't pay me to run, but I love the elliptical.

One thing I do to keep my elliptical workout from getting boring is every one to three minutes I change something up - the resistance, reverse direction, etc. The time goes by faster and I get a better workout that way.

    Don't care for Running myself!! The Video looks like a Winner.....I prefer shorter workouts.... emoticon for the link! I know you will see success when you start doing these workouts regularly! Go for it!

    Tabatas are awesome! Do what you enjoy and you'll stick with it long term and see results - way to go!

You definitely shouldn't dread your workout. I'm glad you found something you love!

I love walking, and I'm trying to love running. This is a great alternative to shake things up a bit, though, so I'm going to add it in some days. Thanks for sharing it!
