Food for My Spirit

This morning I decided to take Carmella to the local farmer's market because I needed zucchini and garlic for the dinner I'm planning to make tonight. As we were heading out the door, my daughter called down the stairs that she wanted to come. Unfortunately, the farmer's market was closed for the season. We decided to try the next town over, because I had heard there was a good one on the banks of the river there. That one was closed too.
I started to get discouraged, but then realized it was a perfect place to walk the dog before the predicted rain hit. My DD and I really enjoyed watching our little Shih Tsu scrambling to smell all the new scents and tromping through the mud. We took a couple of photos just for the fun of it.
Since Chelsea needed to use a restroom, we stopped at a tiny sandwich shop just outside the park. The very sweet older woman apparently owned the place and was proud of the fact that all the ingredients were healthy and salads were made from scratch. By then it was lunchtime, so I got a delicious tropical chicken salad.
On the way home we stopped at a farm, where I picked up some garlic and tomatoes fresh from the farmer. While I didn't end up buying the zucchini I needed, I certainly found food for my spirit as I enjoyed spending and unexpected morning with my wonderful daughter.
