When I was younger .. I would walk just about everywhere... school... store... grandmas house. Friends, work,etc. As I got older and made a little more money I started taking trains, busses, and even cabs .. a lot of cabs. I ordered or at out more than I needed to... but that was me. That was my life.
Fast forward to the present.. and this 41 year old doesn't walk like she used to. Where did she go? I use to love walking and exploring the city. Even if I took the same routes, paths and streets there was always something new to see.
While I have picked up the walking more I don't walk as nearly enough as I did in my 20's.. or even in my 30's for that matter. I miss that girl.
So last night I decided to walk today. A journey I use to take quite often when I was much younger and didnt always have money for the bus or train. Walking to the beach or lake was something me and friends, as well as my cousins, didn't think twice about. Location? Eastside ... waaaaay east. A good walk. About 90 minutes for me back in the day. This was the journey I decided to take earlier today... much older, a lot more fatter and yes.. slower.
How long did it take me? TWO hours and FORTY FIVE minutes. Same distance, almost twice as long to get there. But I made up my mind that I was going to do this. I had to do this. I won't lie.. after 30 minutes I was already huffing and puffing. But I knew my body would remember these walks and I refused to stop. It was definitely a challenge, and my whole body HURTS especially my legs and feet.
I did it. .... on another note. I won't be doing that again for a while...lol.
