I'm going to take it up a notch emotional wise so it would be interesting to read:)
It was a busy day and I had to pretty much skip lunch.
At that point a had multiple justifications for skipping workout - no lunch, no time, busy.
I thought about walking, but I told myself that's too dark outside and cold.
In about an hour when I decided too eat something instead of working out I switched my brain into analytic thinking...
Don't wanna ride spin bike - fine, go for a walk, dark - no way, it seems dark only from inside the building, got time, eat after a walk, cold - put on a coat.

This morning I didn't like to walk, cause a year ago it was painful, literally I cause hardly go to a store, my back heart even by walking in the store, I even hated to get dressed for a walk cause it wasn't easy.
I ride a taxi to work or meetings, and have all my food delivered so this idea of me hating to walk was stuck so deep.

Now, after my first walk since forever I now this...I can walk for as long as I want.
I walked for an hour today, walked 5k and I wasn't even tired...I stopped only to cross the street and never regret it or wanted to appear at home even once.
Main reason I went home was that I got a bit cold, tomorrow I'll take hat:)

As far as workout goes - for me walking is grate: it gives me diversity, since I've been riding my spin bike everyday for 6 to 8 month(except two days when my old bike broke and I was waiting for a new one). It's actually a great exercise + fresh air, and seeing people and I listen my audio books. And even calorie burning is great, my pedometer goes only up to 130 kg...that's how I put it into the tracker, but I lose much more since I weigh 1.5 more.
I would like to see a 286 lbs man walking an hour with 150 lbs on his back:)

In reality I decided to start walking to actually see what's there outside of my house, there's hole world out there. I'm thinking about spending much more time outside.
Main epiphany was that I need a hat:) it's get really cold outside:)
I haven't wear hat for year, even when it was like -30 outside, it took me seconds to get from building door to a car so...but I have one...and and...I need a better headset, cause it hearts my ears, but maybe it was mainly because of cold.

    Walking is great Andrey, good on you. No wonder it was cold at -30, that must be so cold-wow!! When you are walking it is great to see the scenery, and meet people, it is relaxing too, especially if you can let your mind go. Keep up the great work, you are doing so good emoticon emoticon

    emoticon job! I began my journey by working my walking up to the emoticon level. Now I am doing it every Saturday. I walk 1.5 miles every weekday before the day gets busy. I leave my house at 5:30 with my trusty flashlight and get the walk done before I go to work. emoticon you will come to love the walk!

    Good for you!! I LOVE walking around my neighborhood. Of course, I live in Texas, and lot of times it's too hot, so I walk late at night. I love the way it can help clear my mind too.
I don't think I can get away with thinking it's too cold here to walk in the winter after reading your post. :)

    Hi Andrey, thank you for your blog. I have always loved to walk. It's good exercise and doesn't require a lot of thought. I call it "relaxing exercise". The heart pumps and the mind can do whatever it wants.
Outdoor exercise adds the chance of adventure, you never know what could happen, or what you will see. I'm always interested in the wildlife, and the city life.
I live in Pennsylvania, USA, where were are having Indian summer (70). Tell me more about your Russian walks that require a hat. :~)

    I understand , in Nov. 2010 I damaged both legs , six surgeries to walk again - no kidding - after the loss of 116 pounds I am now training for my first Tri - I speed walk - at first I would make every excuse to get out there - I live Chicago - it gets cold . Then one day I started to walk - Mentally I would think to myself while walking in the cold this - When the Wind begins to howl and the cold begins to fall just remember to keep calm and one hand on the Door to Paradise emoticon , its just around the Corner emoticon
