About three and a half years ago, we took in a 14 year old tea-cup Chihuahua from my son's friend because his dad was "tired of them". We also took in a 14 year old Min-Pin that weighed 25 pounds and had never been walked in her entire life. Neither of these dogs had been house broken, either. After getting half the weight off the Min-Pin, Lucky, she was full of energy and cute as a bug! Watching her run up and down the hallway with ease was a delight.
About a year and a half ago, the Min-pin died. Tonight, her companion in life also passed. She had declined severely the past year but this past week or two was really going downhill fast. She could barely walk and this past year, she was going blind and deaf. We looked into having her put down but the cost is outrageous. For her sake, I'm glad Sarah is out of her misery and my son will bury her next to her companion, Lucky.
While I will miss little Sarah, I admit I'm tired of the tiny poops left daily in my room. I don't blame her for having a tiny bladder but this is why I've always stayed away from small dogs.
My son will notify the original owners of the dogs to let them know that the other companion, Sarah, has passed on.
