10 days later... the seatbelt fit.

I had to fly yesterday for work - 2 flights, actually, there and back for a quick business meeting. The plane that I flew on yesterday morning was the same type of aircraft, with the same airline (Delta), that I'd flown just 10 days earlier when I couldn't get my seatbelt fastened and had to ask for an extender. I hadn't weighed myself in awhile before that flight, so I can't say if I lost any weight in those 10 days. All I know is that my seatbelt fit on both flights yesterday! YES! emoticon emoticon On the first flight, it was quite snug, but I even had some wiggle room on the second flight! My goal is, by the time I fly next (most likely vacation at Thanksgiving), that I will not have to even worry about that darn seatbelt fastening!

This week has been throwing me some challenges. I had a strong Monday in my diet and exercise, though I could've pushed myself to exercise more. Tuesday morning, I woke up with a bad headache but still went to work. By 11:00 AM, I felt extremely nauseous and had a pounding migraine. Luckily, I was able to go home and lie down for the rest of the day. As the nausea subsided, I ate healthy at first but then gave into the temptation to have just 1 cookie, which turned into 3 cookies. Excedrin migraine helped my headache go away, but I was not feeling up to exercising. I was pretty down, but I was trying hard to learn from the experience and to not be too down on myself.

Cut to Wednesday, I had to fly to a work meeting and back. At the airport, I didn't plan well and ended up grabbing probably the worst thing for my insulin resistance - a bagel and cream cheese. I ordered a cobb salad at lunch, but I should've ordered one with less meat and cheese, and more veggies. And then the chef sent out to us a huge dessert platter, so I had 3 chocolate-covered strawberries. Oy. But I then ate a healthy apple and nuts for my snack on the plane ride home. Once home, I was wiped out and hungry, but I made myself put on my sneakers and go for a walk, and it did feel good!

Today, I am on track with everything, only I received a surprise invitation from a friend for an off-Broadway opening tonight, along with the after-party. I decided to go, but in order to do that, I'm not going to work late so I can go home and eat an early dinner and change clothes. I brought my sneakers to work and walked for nearly 30 minutes at lunch, which felt great. As for the after-party, I'm sticking to my no alcohol until Thanksgiving, so I'll have water and maybe some food, depending on if there is anything healthy. And I won't stay too late, so I'll still get a good night's sleep.

It's important to me to still be able to go out with friends, have fun, be able to travel for work and pleasure, and live my life while making these lifestyle changes, and this week is certainly testing me in that respect! To hold myself more accountable, I've decided to make my calorie tracker and fitness tracker public on here. I'm going to get more involved in teams on SP as well. emoticon
