Another meal out

Thursday, October 03, 2013

We got together with our dear friends who's son's wedding we are attending on Saturday and the reason why we came to Seattle. they are such dear friends that go back like 30 years. We met them when we were boaters and they were in the same yacht club. Here's the funny part. We met them at a marina to see their new boat. They bought the same type of boat we used to have. A 47 footer. Same exact boat just a year older than ours was. It really brought back good memories of our boating days. They said we could come and borrow it any time which is so nice. We might do that and bring some friends from Ajijic that would like to see the northwest. We certainly know all the places to go and what to see in Puget Sound. It would be a fun vacation.

Then we went out for dinner and I had a yummy garlic chicken, carrots and asparagus. Very delicious. I am holding my own as well with weight and the scale said 106.8 this morning. So doing good. But the best news is that I feel good.

DH and I are off to do some errands. One of which is to go and talk to the ER I had to go to last August when in Seattle when I had a flair up. We want to dispute the bill as they charged us over $5000 when all I needed was an IV and I told them so. That is so incredible how much health care cost here in the states. Outrageous! I don't know if you can do anything about it but geez...that's a lot of money for IV treatment. So we will see if we can get anywhere.

I hope you all are having a good Thursday.
Make good decisions.

That is awesome you are feeling so well! Good for you maintaining your weight in spite of eating out!! You have wonderful friends that will let you borrow their boat!
5000 for just an IV??? That is indeed highway robbery, especially if you did not require a bed or overnight stay. Hope you can whittle them down with common sense!
I am very thankful I live in a country where my medical care is paid for. I wouldn't have a life where it not so. It would just be living bill to bill.
I hope you have a fabulous Friday!

Good to hear you sounding so happy and relaxed.
It's always great to catch up with old friends.
Good luck with contenting the hospital charge.
I know I was warned when I came to America that
I should not get sick as it would be very expensive
to go to hospitals. I am so thankful that we have a
great health system in Autralia. Enjoy your time.

Sounds like a great dinner and so glad you are enjoying your trip. Continue to stay well and enjoy yourself. Let us know how you make out on your ER bill.

When I had my mitral valve replaced the total bill was $242,000, but the attending Dr. gave me Coumadin after I told him not to and the night before I was to be release I started bleeding out. They had to do an emergency surgery to stop the bleed and that one cost $265,000. I told them I never got paid for correcting my errors. A 10 day stay turned into a month.

I am glad you are having a wonderful time in Seattle.
As for the overcharge of your IV, I wish you the best. I get an IV called IVIG every six weeks for my skin disease that cost $12,000 to $13,000 for each IV and I have to get one for four days in a row every six weeks. I do believe medications are way over priced.

Sorry Sallie but that is health system here they all have to get a piece of the pie I swear you can go in with a broken arm and before they take cre of that they will run test and xrays on al other parts of the bode before they check the arm. It is a dollar game. Glad you had a good meal with your friends

Where is the boat moored at? Is it power or sail? That's the thing about the States, don't get sick if you don't have insurance. It sucks. When that happens, I'd rather be in Mexico or other developing countries.

Just saw an article on the news about ER's over charging and doing unnecessary tests. Good luck to you.

Glad things are going well with you in Seattle - and good luck with the ER bill! Healthcare is broken in the States as you know. We pay so much for so little!

So glad you are feeling good, Sallie! That's great. And you are doing an A+ job on maintenance. That boating vacation offer sounds like it would lead to a great, great time!! Glad the weather has cleared for you. Good luck on disputing the bill. I am constantly annoyed and frustrated by medical care. I've gotten to the point I mostly ignore them, but sometimes you just can't. Anyway, glad you are well this visit. Take care!
