Watch out is what I want to shout at drivers. I'm losing count on how many times I've almost been hit while crossing, with the pedestrian light, the street. Tonight it was almost a two for one. One car was rushing up to the stop sign and a second was turning left into the library driveway and they almost hit me! Scared the second driver bad, but it would have been his fault.

Even when I run at night I dress appropriately. I wear bright orange or neon green shirts, shorts and hats that have reflective parts. My pack even has reflective properties on it.

Maybe I should get those glow necklaces and wear around my ankles, wrists and neck! I'm sure someone would still not see me!

The other watch out is a bit "unpleasant," but I need to ask. When you are working out do you find that you pass a lot of gas? I think I could "kill" any competition coming up behind me, at times. emoticon

I also found that when I had those five days off, I felt so bloated emoticon and now I know why. (I know too much information.) Just curious!

WATCH OUT while you are emoticon , emoticon or emoticon !!!

To the gas issue - yes and so do my girls if we go a couple of days without running. Enough said!!!

I wear light when I run at night, I have a lighted leash for Gypsy and they have lights on their collars. I still have cars (and bikes) that "don't see us". People just don't see what they are truly not expecting.

People are always in such a hurry these days. Please be safe. I vote for the glow things everywhere.....and a headlight? Like the ones you can get at home depot with a band around your head....meant for folks doing projects that can't hold a flashlight at the same time.
Be careful!

No question - we could be in the right and still 'dead' right.

I hear ya. I don't like to run at night but I've had a few close calls in the daytime! I used to work a mile away from my house so I walked in nice weather. Almost every day when I'm crossing with the light, I'd have to step back from the right turn lane because people just flew into the turn without looking! People just get lost in their own world and do not see what is right in front of them!

And about the gas, oh yes! Some days I hope nobody throws a cigarette out their window as I run by! emoticon

Some days, after a run, I'll try to be delicate here, I "go" like I've eaten a crate of prunes.

I'm glad you are okay. I have had that experience myself a few times. The best was when the driver that almost hit me by pulling onto the running path got mad at me and called me rude because I was mad at her for scaring the crap out of me as well as for actually driving onto the bike path. Of course I am upset, I was putting the power on to climb the hill and there is now a car coming at me. UGH!
Everyone be careful out there!

Yes, be careful out there. Those drivers just aren't looking out for us.
As for the gas, sometimes I chew a Gas-X before going to the gym especially for a class (like yoga). Just think of bending over with someone right behind you - now that's TMI. In the open air I don't worry about it.

Yep... run, bike, and walk defensively!

As for the gas... yep, we all get it. It's a natural bodily function. No, out in the open air, you won't "gas" anybody out.

Wow! That is so scary! So glad you survived!! Drivers these days are so bad, inattentive, going through stop signs and red lights, its a nightmare crossing a street these days! Speeding and aggressiveness seem to be the norm! I never cross a street unless I am sure I have the eye of every single driver nearing it -I make them pissed off waiting that I don't start crossing right away, but better safe then sorry. I have seen it on more than one occasion, a driver will go around one that has stopped -no thought why that car might be stopped!!! Okay rant over :P
I have very bad gas because of all the veggies I consume, but I don't seem to have trouble with it in my classes I am guessing because I am tightening everything up big time. I find taking beano before I eat cruciform veggies helps cut down on a lot of the worst of it though. I forgot it today and paid the price :(
Be safe out there! If you can avoid running at night, that would be the best!

Ah what a wonderful sense of humor you have. :D I thought I was a real goner this afternoon as I was passing the street from the parking lot and the hospital doors. This guy was 'flying low!' I threw my hands up & couldn't move. Terrifying! We are so unprotected when we are walking across streets. Thanks for mentioning this. It's a real problem. And I'm so glad neither of us were hurt!

Question: What did you find out? Were you eating grain (gluten) on those days? emoticon emoticon emoticon
