I had a nice, low key day. Took the dog for a long walk this morning. He was still happily trotting along with me near mile 6. Tried to take him for a real short walk in the afternoon, but he insisted on a slightly longer walk than I had planned. Then took him out again this evening. We walked a total of 8.9 miles. Plus I did some yoga and a little ST. I need to start doing more ST on a consistent basis once again. Especially with kayaking season coming to an end soon, the ST is important. I don't worry about it too much during the Spring and Summer, because I am out paddling so often, and that is good upper body and core work. (Well... it is a good core workout if I am paddling with good form, using plenty of torso rotation.) I have picked up my weights a handful of times since June, but I am working on getting back to them more often.
Did well with Food today. I did eat a little more snack food than usual, but nothing too junky. I eat three meals, and at least three snacks most days. I would almost say it is more like 6 mini meals the way the calories are distributed. I have a hard time eating in the morning, so that tends to be a light meal. I usually have to wait an hour after waking up before I can stand to eat anything.
Taking my niece kayaking again tomorrow morning. She really enjoyed it last week. I am glad she is interested, because she is such a bookworm she doesn't get moving all that often, so I have been trying to make physical activity part of the norm for her. I know from personal experience that getting heavy is no fun. If I can help her avoid obesity I will count myself a success in this life!
