Thoughts on the sweet stuff

Iím in favor. Unfortunately. We even have a dog named Sweets, although neither my husband nor I remember who actually came up with the name (shortened from Sweetheart). Yep, my sweet tooth is the size of Arizona, and always has been for as long as I can remember. Cravings are made worse when associated with Ďregularí food, like pizza for some reason--always have to have something chocolate after a pizza. Thereís probably a physiological reason behind it and if not, perhaps a psychological one.

But so far, Iíve been cookie-free (my biggest downfall) for the last few days and itís going good. Iíve found a cup of hot tea in the afternoon kind of takes care of the sugar-munchies. Shoving the cookies in the back of the freezer also works (out of sight, out of mind). Iíve conquered some of the cravings with fruit, reasoning in this early weight loss stage that I could probably have as much as I want of that and not do too much damage. Have to give a shout-out here to MYJOYNOW45EST for the fruit basket goodie she sent: thank-you and nom, nom!

So a streak of 3 days, woo-hoo! Iím off to look at the tame Your Sweet Tooth Challenge because some moderation in life can be a good thing.

    Cookies are the WORST, aren't they? A definite trigger food for me which I have to avoid altogether...no moderation possible with cookies for me...ugh!

    Three days is great! I had an addiction to bread my whole adult life. The first three days were the hardest. I went for almost eight weeks w/o any bread or pasta last winter. I must say, it has put bread in it's proper place in my diet. I will never be the bread overeater I used to be - it is hard to imagine how much of it i used to put back! Hope that this offers some mojo for what you are going thru - it ain't easy but it sure can happen - go for it!

    "Moderation in all things," is a good motto. Another one of my favorites is "If it weren't for the last minute, a lot of things wouldn't get done!" emoticon Good work on the cookies!! Also, the longer you go without the sweet stuff, the less your craving will be... really. emoticon Blessings, JOY
