As I was crossing the bridge this morning, I was overwhelmed by the shutdown and tears began to fall. I am a fed and I work with the grantees all over the nation. It is unfortunate that the services to states and local governments will be shut down and worse, that the small independents will not be able to support the services for which the grant funds were awarded. How many babies, women, men and families will be affected; how much pain will a veteran have to suffer because the services are disrupted; how many hospitals will be operating on a skeleton budget. No one knows the amount of trouble this shut down will cause.
Sadly, we are not exempted employees and it is even illegal for us to access our voice and e-mail. At 6:am, I got on the prayer line for UBAME at 1-760-569-6000 code 139079# and the scripture of today is: Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41: 8-10.
For that moment I lived the scripture which says: Peace that exceeds all understanding. Yes, those things are real, but God’s word is not shaped or formed by man, and I am trusting God for an answer, resolution, life and love. Our babies will be fed and cared for, our women and men will receive what they need and there is nothing that man can do to stop the love, the power, and the security of God’s word. God Bless all of you who took time to read this – you are blessed and I am too!!
Fear Not! Replace fear with Faith and God will see you through.
~ Isaiah 41:8-10
