We recently returned from our trip to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We were only gone a few days but it was enough to provide a much-needed respite and recharge my batteries.
We got in some hiking in a nature preserve near Duluth, Minnesota and lots of walking and stair climbing at some places we visited. Fortunately, my husband is a nature man and in much better physical shape than I am, so had no problem indulging my desire to check out the trails. This city has 129 miles of hiking trails traversing all its parks. It's right on the edge of the wilderness, so outdoor activities are big around here, in all four seasons. Not to mention the fact that it's a college town, so there lots of people with lots of energy taking advantage of it all. This morning at 6:30 a.m. I peeked out our hotel door to check the temp and saw someone riding their bike along a bike trail, almost in the dark! Now that's what I call devotion to fitness! Or maybe he had to go to work! Our hotel was situated on a hill and the bike trail was a sight lower than we were! Come to think of it, much of the town is on a hill, reminiscent of San Francisco at times.
I forgot to bring my camera from the room and our car, so I don't have any photos to share. But the weather was wonderful, above normal temperatures and perfectly sunny!
In the car on the way home today, I read some back issues of Shape from this summer that I got from a free pile at the library. I got one when I decided to finally finish my vision collage. Being a practical person with almost no time, I spied a Shape on a free pile at the library and decided to make my vision collage from that one issue.
I found enough to fill both sides, both with photos and other inspiration I can use. Judging from the cover, I thought it would be mere fluff, but is substantial enough to get me going on some new ideas. I learned about products I didn't know existed and some nice recipes. So, I left the library with two more issues just before our little vacation.
My collage comes from the June 2013 issue of Shape.

A couple of close-ups:
The last time I read Shape I was a Skinny Minnie and much younger. I guess I haven't changed much, even though I thought I did. My mind is the same, to my surprise. Only my body has changed!
This is some of what I've been up to the past month or so.
