I'm proud of myself. Tremendously proud of myself.
What makes me so proud, today of all days? Did I see a huge loss on the scale? Did I fit into a size 8 jeans? Nope to both. Instead, I am proud of my choices yesterday.
Yesterday, I decided to walk to a nearby cafe for lunch. Instead of driving to a farther away coffee shop, I walked with the threat of rain imminent. So that was Healthy Choice #1.
Healthy Choice #2 was my chosen lunch. Half sandwich with salad, no soup, and an Americano.
Healthy Choice #3 was how when my lunch arrived with chips, I didn't eat a single one. I ate my salad, stuffed the chips on the salad plate and covered them with a napkin. Even though they called to me, I didn't touch them.
Healthy Choice #4 was how I chose to go to the gym and run for 40 minutes, despite having a late meeting (until 7pm). And how I followed that up with Healthy Choice #5: Homemade Kale Chips! (Thanks Sissy!!)
The only way it could have been better was if I had done Healthy Choice #6: Go to bed on time. Unfortunately, I was talking to the boyfriend until later than I wanted, so I didn't get to bed until after midnight (a girl's gotta read too!).
And that is why I am proud today. Old Me, the me of Last Year, would not have made these healthy choices. She wouldn't have had a half sandwich with a salad and not eaten the chips. She wouldn't have geared herself up to exercise. And she still would have gone to bed late.
What healthy choice did you make yesterday? Have you congratulated yourself for this choice? Have you patted yourself on the back and said, "Great work! I am so proud of you!"? If not...do that right now!! Because every healthy choice you make is something to be proud of!
