looking outside..Walk?

Tuesday, October 01, 2013

The weather here in Seattle has been so bad that I haven't been walking....just don't want to chance getting sick. Need to be careful. This has been the longest time that I haven't gotten my minimum 10,000 steps in per day that I can remember. I know I am a wimp about the chilly wet weather. I guess if I ever had to live here again I would have to do the treadmill thing. So my fitbit wants me to do more....perhaps later today.

The good news is that I know I will get back into it as it's really an ingrained habit...going back like 30 years. So not worried.

Had a nice lunch with the folks that are considering moving to the Lake Chapala area where we live in Mexico. Nice people and the would fit in great. They are planning a trip in March to check it out and will stay with us for 4 days. We will show them all around and answer more questions.

Hope you all are having a great day.
Make good decisions today.

It rained heavily, was near freezing and had high winds the first two days on my little vacation to the Mineral Spa -so I did not walk at all :( Not because of the weather as I saw the forecast and was well prepared with warm fleece and rain jacket, but because its a very steep hilly area and most of the roads are unpaved, loose gravel and muddy, simply too dangerous to walk on and risk a fall on the uneven ground :( It is better to be safe then sorry and so glad you were cautious!
Taking care of yourself is priority one!

Have you ever tried Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds and her other "walking" workouts? Really they are low impact aerobics, very low impact. When the weather is bad and I can't get to the gym I often do one of her DVDs or I do those kind of moves while I watch TV. Don't know if that would be comfortable as you are visiting, but something to consider. I like that it is such a habit for you, you aren't concerned about getting out of the habit. Good for you!!! -Marsha

They sky finally turned blue this afternoon (after one of the worst down pours at noon I've ever seen). I hope you're getting some of it also. I'm really missing our normal Indian summers. Nice that you had a good time with new friends and will be helping them when they visit.

Yes, walking in the rain is not so much fun. I agree with the others...a mall walk or Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds.

Hopefully you'll get some breaks in the weather today so you can get outside and walk. It can be tough getting enough activity outdoors here this time of year, unless you like being wet and cold!

You are smart safe guarding your health. Will take less time to get back in the habit of walking than recouping from being ill. I am sure you will figure out how to resume walking and protect your health at the same time.

Mall walking is good - I spent some time in Vancouver and walked underground there - not sure if Seattle has the same underground options! Whatever you do, take good care of yourself! You'll get right back to walking when you get home!
