An Encouraging Letter

This morning, I wrote a very nice, loving and encouraging letter...to myself! In this letter, I urged myself to stay on track this holiday season. I told myself to remember how hard I've had to work to lose 71 lbs, to keep in mind that I still have about 70 lbs MORE to lose, and to never forget that I am worth my best effort every single day. I sent the letter using a website, and it will be delivered to me on November 15th, right to my email. I used this website to do it;

www.futureme.org/

When this letter arrives next month, I think it will motivate me to stay on track this holiday season. Why not write a letter to your future self, too? The website is free, and an encouraging letter from yourself might help motivate you to stay on track, too!

There was a time when I used to think the holiday season was just one long all you can eat buffet! And there are so many food temptations out there! Starting in September, we are just overwhelmed with "goodies" and "treats." Halloween candy appears at stores while we're still wearing summer clothes. Not long after that, the Christmas temptations show up, right next to the Halloween displays. Not to mention all the commercials for decadent Thanksgiving meals, Christmas cookies, etc. It sometimes seems as if the holiday season is just about total non-stop eating!

And in the past, total non-stop eating was exactly what I did from September to New Years Day. I would gain weight, and my clothes would get tight. On New Years Day, I would wake up and make a ton of resolutions; lose weight, exercise, get healthy. Sometimes I'd actually keep those resolutions for a whole two weeks...but usually, I would have forgotten them by the end of the day.

I'm not going to make any New Years resolutions this year, though. I'm working NOW to stay on track, and to make as much progress as I can by New Years Day. (Its only 91 days away now!) Will I be perfect during the holiday season? Heck no! I know there will be times when I eat a little too much, or when I skip a workout. But the good news is that I do not have to be perfect in order to make progress! As long as I just keep doing my best to have more "on track" days than "off track" ones, I will succeed and I WILL make progress!

Come on...why not see how much progress you can make by New Years day, too?
