Short Check In!

Tuesday, October 01, 2013

We had an awesome time in Peru! What an exciting country. I have to go through the 1,335 pictures my husband (mostly) took, delete about 1/3 of them, and then I'll write a blog and post pictures of the trip. TC had a great comment that all of our fellow hikers agreed with:

But about my weight: I gained two pounds on the trip. This is really a huge accomplishment for me! Even though we had 4 days of massive hiking, there were another 8 days when we just did sightseeing. AND, we ate in some wonderful restaurants. We had breakfast buffets at the hotels every morning, and for lunch and dinner we always had three course meals: starters, entrées, and desserts. I often ate fruit for dessert, but geez, who can pass up cheesecake, tiramisu, or apple tartlets?

Luckily portions were small (unlike American restaurants), and since Peru is on the ocean, there nearly always was a choice of fish on the menu. I made the best choices I could and tried to always eat slowly and leave something on my plate. Mostly I just didn't stress about the food.

I have joined the BLC 23 challenge. I'm on the "Steely Sapphire Soldiers" team, and they expect 100% compliance and participation. Since I'm competitive by nature this will be a good fit for me. I've been on Spark for over four years, and I've managed to take off and maintain a ~35 pound weight loss (twice I've taken it off), but now it's time to finish up the job!

I'm hoping to lose one pound a week and finally hit my goal weight of less than 140 pounds.
It's only 10-15 pounds away, so I know I can do it, I just have to DO IT!

I am really excited about the possibility of finally, finally hitting my goal weight by the end of 2013. I'm proud that I seem able to maintain my weight around 148-152, this is a range that has eluded me for YEARS AND YEARS. But I can and will do better. I want to be the very best 59 year old I can be!!!

So after a wonderful vacation, I am feeling renewed and ready to tackle those last pounds! HOORAH!

Have a wonderful day Sparklers, and I hope you are looking forward to my Peru hiking blog! emoticon

Welcome back! Will look forward to seeing photos!! I have joined the Leslie Sansone WATP 60-Day Challenge and hope to lose 1 pound per week. But more than that to lose 4 inches on my hips. Like you, I lost 15 pounds with SP, but gained it back, I hope to permanently "release" them this time ;)

2 pounds on a trip is really good. I always gain 3 no matter if the trip is 3 days or 3 weeks.

What a wonderful trip and a great mindset! I can't wait to see the pictures.

I second what Nancy said, you tackled the Inca trail. Those last 10-15 pounds don't stand a chance.

I'm very excited for you!

Congrats on the smart eating on a challenging trip!! Good for you! Sounds like a real challenge hiking, too, but you did it!!!

I was 59 when I finally, finally, finally not only hit my "goal" weight of the time, but found I could live comfortably far below that weight, below what I weighed in junior high school. Here I am at age 64 still trying to find my ideal weight, but living consistently below a BMI of 21. It can be done and you are ready to do it!! How exciting! -Marsha

    Love what TC said.

And if you can do the INCA TRAIL you can do anything!
