No better feeling!

Monday, September 30, 2013

Sometimes life turns out much better than you could ever expect. When it does, you just have to tell someone. That is why I'm writing today. Sunday was a day that exceeded all expectations.
My husband John and I planned on working the whole weekend by ourselves as Information Volunteers at Pinkham Notch in Gorham, NH at the foot of Mt. Washington. As it turned out, there were three other volunteers who also came. John and I worked very hard on Sunday, allowing the other 3 volunteers to go hiking. When Sunday came, it was our turn to hike!

We chose to hike the toughest trail in the White Mountains-Huntington Ravine! On Sunday, there were about 280 hikers on Washington. Only 8 of them were on the Huntington Ravine Trail. On the 8, 4 were Rock Climbers, and 4 were hikers. We had the trail to ourselves.

The trail is full of boulders. There is also the 80-95 degree angle hike up the mountain that is quite difficult. We have been hiking all summer and are in tip top shape. We took our time, and enjoyed the beautiful trail.

There is nothing more exciting than sharing the trail adventure with a very good friend. John and I have such a good time hiking together.

We also enjoyed watching the rock climbers scale the face of the cliffs as we hiked along. The weather was perfect, and we enjoyed a great trail lunch on our 5 hour trek.

There is no better feeling than making it to the summit with your own two feet! Happy trails everyone!
