It’s been a month, really? While I am good about logging in every day, it’s been a month since I’ve written a blog; my how time flies!
I have had some challenges with binges and sweets in the last month. Thankfully, they haven’t gotten so out of control that I gained too much, only 6 pounds. I’ve kept up with my running 3-4 times a week and I’m sure that’s helped.
I’m starting swimming lessons after work this evening. Me. At 42. I attempted them several years ago, back home at the local YMCA, which turned out to be a joke. The instructor was a high school girl and the lessons were not private. I was told I was going to be the only one in the class and the time frame was during “open swim” time but that usually meant there were only a few other swimmers in the water. I think I made it to four classes before I called it quits; that last time I showed up and the local Boy Scouts were having their way with the pool…and my instructor didn’t seem phased that I might have a problem with this. Thankfully, I hadn’t spent that much money on them so while I was irritated, I was more than happy not to return.
This time, I paid the expensive fee for specific, private one on one classes. I’ll let you know how it goes.
My motivation is not only learning for the sake of learning to swim but I have the Tough Mudder coming up in a month…and there are maybe 3 obstacles where I will need to swim to get through them. I can walk around and avoid these obstacles but I refuse to do that, at least not without even trying. The good thing is, my instructor is aware of the impending mudrun and knows someone who has done the Mudder…so she can get me where I need to be, focusing on what is necessary for the race. I’m excited!
I can’t believe it’s the end of September already, which means what are my goals for October?
Learning to swim
Stop procrastinating preparing meals/lunches for work!
Keep running 3-4 times a week
Mudder circuits (specific to Tough Mudder obstacles) 3 times a week
