So, I've been struggling. I live with my boyfriend and a friend of ours from college. My boyfriend is a total carnivore (I'm a vegetarian) who thinks cheese is its own food group and has never met a fruit or veggie that he's liked. My roommate pretty much eats whatever we make and doesn't really pay attention to nutrition. Needless to say, it's been difficult to stick to the changes I want to make when I'm a minority in my own home.
Luckily, last night my roommate hated the Hamburger Helper she and my BF had for dinner and declared that she was tired of eating meat and cheese dishes all the time. I'm using this opportunity to introduce healthier recipes at home. I got the Sparkpeople recipe book from the library and each of us is responsible for finding one new recipe we want to try by Friday. Tonight, to ease into healthier eating, I'm going to make taco salad with romaine lettuce, black beans, and fresh tomatoes.
Each year we go to a huge anime convention in Detroit. We have one month left until the convention. I've been telling my BF that I want to like the way I look in my pictures from the convention and I want to start working out again (I keep restarting and then getting too sore and taking days off to recover and then never restarting). He has said that he will workout with me so that he also looks good in the pictures. I'm also going to find a 30-day challenge for us to do together. I'm optimistic that we'll start laying the groundwork for long-term healthy habits this month.
