October Goals

It feels like it was eons when I started this journey. I was 260 and very unhappy with myself. Now, I have gained 20 pounds and it is like I am starting over. It's hard. I really forgot how hard it is to lose weight and I think I even was taking my fitness for granted. Now, I am slowly getting back to it. I have to remember Rome wasn't built overnight and neither will I.

I put stickers on my calendars for when I work out. It's like my 'reward'. It also helps me see my progress. Tonight, I looked back on previous months and figured out how many times I am working out per week on average. On average, August was 2.5 and September was 3. Now this doesn't seem 'good' but I have been struggling with being consistent so this great. I am actually excited to see the improvement. I hope for October I can average 4 days a week and eventually by December be up to 5 days a week.

Another goal I am aiming for is running a 5K by December. I was supposed to do a 5K in October but the week before last I ran 2.25 miles outside. I was sore for THREE days. That typically only happened when I was training for a half marathon. It's my cue that my body wasn't ready for a 5K in a few weeks.

With my fitness getting more consistent, I suppose it's time to get cracking on getting a handle on my food. Some days it's great, other days it's like I am the girl that was 260. Just like in a quick snap! Today I slept til 3:00 pm (the lastest ever I have slept, lol) and ate three bowls of cereals and a twinkie! emoticon Way back at the beginning of my weight loss journey, I had gallbadder issues and it's been kicking up again. Its my cue to get my butt in gear! No more crappy food. So, I got ready for the day and went to the gym. (Earned that star!) I even had a salad for supper and binged on raspberries and pineapple. I feel pretty good now. Just have to keep working at this again. And, remember just because so and so can eat it doesn't mean I can. I need to be more firm with myself. I think that will come with time - just like working out.

So, after all that rambling, I have decided I am going to have some monthly October goals. It's been a while that I have had monthly goals so maybe that means I AM getting back to who I was... and better! Anyhow, the goals in summary are...
-Work out on average 4 days a week
-Run more consistently to train for the 5K
-Eat more fruit for dessert

    I hear ya, sister. Ugh. I gained back 28 pounds in the last year-and-a-half of the 40 I'd lost. I'm jumping back on board the weight loss train, too. Excited to rid it with ya.

  I like your analysis of past performance and how you use that to make realistic goals for yourself. I'm confident you'll meet each of these goals and have a great October!

  take a picture in your mind of where you want to end up. set several small goals and make a plan on how to reach it.
