Am I ready for a half marathon or a 10K?

I have been running consistently and strong, for 6 months now putting in 20 or more miles a week. I do my easy runs. I do my speed work and I do my long runs. Today I did a track workout. This afternoon I ran 5K. Total miles today is 6.75, since it is my long-run day. I cross train 1-2 times a week, and rest when my body says enough.

I have 4 weeks to increase my long runs to participate in a half marathon. Given my limited training, can I do a half? Or should I do what I already know I can? I know I can complete a 10K, but I have never run one.

The Hero Half is a great lake front route, and the 10K is more a wooded trail run. I am torn.

    Do a 10K. Do a lot of 10Ks! Anyone contemplating a half should have many races under their belt. Not just 10Ks but you should gain experience running intermediate distances as well - such as 15K and 10M races. I see too many people who want to skip all that and jump right to a HM and suffer the consequences.

I also recommend distances shorter than 10K such as 8K. While you may do 8K runs already, being able to do them both as easy runs and races gives you invaluable experience that will pay off at longer distances.
