3 months into Maintenance

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Sunday, September 29, 2013

What have I learned while maintaining? Well, I have learned that maintaining requires just as much dedication and diligence as losing.
It is well worth the effort.
I am at the same weight at 12 weeks out as I was when I decided to maintain.
I still measure, I still weigh my food, I still count calories and track fitness.
It is a lifestyle, and it is a wonderful one.
I feel healthy, I very rarely get sick, I feel great, my back never hurts.
I can run over 3 miles, something I never thought I could or would do.
I fit into size 10 pants and medium and sometimes small tops. Again, something I never thought I could do.
I exercise daily.
I walk more than 5 miles a day, usually closer to 7.5 or 8.
It is all due to Spark and my great friends that I have met here and the teams that keep me motivated.
I still tell everyone I can about this website and encourage people to check it out.
Some people stick to it, others fade away shortly after finding out that it takes a lot of determination and dedication to making good choices pretty much every day.
It is not for the faint of heart, but anyone can do this if they set their minds to it.
So to all my spark friends, Thanks for being with me as we go along this journey.
You are all so very wonderful and I appreciate you all.
I wish you all continued success as we continue to make good and healthy choices.
We can do it! emoticon

So true - faithfully sticking to the program and learning to make adjustments as life throws it's curveballs is what it is all about. Thankfully there are many on this team who are there to coach us through this part of the journey.

Congratulations on reaching maintenance! You are so right - it is a never-ending road and a long and winding one, also! For many of us maintainers, our biggest motivation is that we never EVER want to go back to where we were! Hang in there and never give up!

Great blog! It's a lifestyle change for sure and you are right! Not for the faint of heart! If I had listened to my mother back in the day I would be one slim chicky! LOL It is hard not getting on my soapbox and then when I see that glazed over look in their eyes! I always tell anyone that does listen to get a diet and fitness buddy for that extra oomph!
Great job! Congrats on getting to your goal AND maintaining! Keep it up!

Its even harder to maintain then lose weight. Keeping up your successful habits is the key. Over two years of maintenance and I still weigh and measure, tracking both food and fitness. It really does work!
Keep on being awesome!

Well done! It took me more than three months to learn to make the weight go sideways, and you picked that right up.

Yes, maintenance is a lot of effort. It becomes more automatic over time, but the key actions and decisions must still take place. And it's worth it.

Because nothing tastes as good as being able to run 3 miles feels.

Yes, you are right it isn't for the faint of heart and it takes a lot of hard work and dedication! It is time for those of us that are serious to wake up and realize the love of food is getting us no where but laid up in the hospital with a heart attack or worse! You are doing great! Keep up the good work!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Words alone cannot express how very proud I am of you and how proud I am having you as a friend. You came to SP with hope and embarked on your journey. You took the "bull by the horns", embraced your plan and are living proof of success. I am so happy to follow in your footsteps - oh, I know we walk side by side, but you did jump into maintenance a couple of weeks before me (LOL), so I will follow your out standing example of how to continue succeeding on our journeys. There are so many success stories here, but yours is the one I can relate to the most. You have inspired me and many others to keep reaching for the stars. Have another wonderful week. emoticon emoticon
