I told y'all that I was going to run the 5k for my friend's aunt who died from cancer, not only in memory of her aunt, but in honor of mine. My aunt has stage 3 breast cancer and will be having surgery tomorrow, so all prayers and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I was just hoping to beat 40 minutes, because I haven't been training or running on a weekly basis. I also thought if I could get close to 35 minutes which was my best time before, that I'd be thrilled.
Well I crossed the finish line at 33:30!!!!
*edit* Apparently this isn't a PR, as I just went back through my blogs and found that I ran a 5k last October in 32:20. Oh well! Haha.
It was a very emotional run. I was thinking about my Aunt Barbara. And I was also thinking about how far I've come.
After my first mile, I looked at my watch and saw I'd done it under 10 minutes. The fact that I've become so much healthier and fit is just an amazing feeling.
Thank you all so much for encouraging me to do it. I wouldn't have known how fit I really am if I hadn't.
Hope you all had a good weekend!
