instinct - Take the long way home

Saturday, September 28, 2013

Buddy and I walked the dam this am.... longer strides and slower pace I noticed... Anyway, we were on our 4th lap when I noticed these 2 guys coming along the path between the two parks... For some reason, they veered across the grass right into my path... I kept my eyes on them and when they got up to us, I said, "How are you's today?"... they answered appropriately and walked on. But I had bad vibes about those two. Another lady came along behind in same direction jogging... On my net trip, I was still not feeling right about those two, so I asked her to stop and asked her what she thought and I told her what I thought. She said my instincts were right on and she felt something too. So, I kept more aware and even she mentioned, where did they go, they didn't keep walking on the dam trail. I had noticed the same and assumed they went back to the abandoned railway trail that leads to downtown. Anyway, up till that point that had been no one else walking, which is strange in itself, but because I travel across an isolated service road to get home, I didn't feel comfortable with that idea today, so instead I took the long way home, along the road... first time that has ever happened since I have been walking there since June. And I am glad I asked for and received validation from the other lady as well. She also told me as we crossed another time that she just started training for the Run For the Cure next weekend, and she is a 2 yr. breast cancer survivor... By then, there were more people, but I also shared that story with some people I met later in the day. One man said he sees a woman walking at dusk and told her, she should change her time and to call him to let him know she got home safely too..

Came home to plumbing emergency... still in progress, as dh tries to fix toilet without being able to turn off the water... hey, wait that is a whistle, rather than a swear I hear.... hopefully that means success.... Nope, plumber required.....

Did take that beautiful baby afghan down and donate it to the Museum. They asked me how much I thought it was worth and the man even suggested $150, which I agreed is more like it for my time, talent and materials, but no one will pay. They are going to raffle it off and hopefully get a decent amount of money for all my work, and then of course, the work of the sellers too.... it all adds up..

tough day...

I'm glad you trusted your instincts. Many people don't and regret it. My oldest had a gun pointed at her in California, but, because she had trusted her instincts, she was far enough away and had a lot of things around her to be able to be safe.

You have to trust your instincts. Scary though, I have been in that sort of position before. I never go for walks without one of my dogs, and it is always my Australian Shepherd when I am on the trails. I don't think my Shi-poo would scare too many people away!

Glad you are ok!

I have always trusted my instincts and I will tell you the same...always trust your instincts.

Something sets the alarm bells off, whether you recognize what it is or not, heed the feeling and avoid the situation.

Glad you are safe

What a day..glad you are safe and that you used your head about where to walk home. Hope the toilet is fixed shortly.

I went to a viewing this morning, then food shopping. Steve and I worked on the hedges and got them done. The neighbors drove by with smirks on their faces....you know I wanted to shout "you just had to ask". I figure that karma should take care of them at some point....

Have a good rest of day! emoticon
