What do you do the day after a 13.1 Run?

You go for a emoticon ... just to loose it up!

Because I am in the countdown phase of 2X emoticon and I need to emoticon !

(I need to keep in mind that at the finish line - this was only half way where I need to be in one month for the Niagara 26.2!!!)

This last week has been crazy! But I think running helped me handle the stress. My last race was a real morale booster! My only problems are: working too much ... and not enough sleep (less than 4 hours/night)... I need to slow down!

Anyway, the day after the half-marathon, I was stuck in a meeting all day (I was on temporary duty in Ottawa, I had to chair a writing board) and I felt like I need to move! I stayed up all day because I did not want to get stiff but I still felt like I need some fresh air. I put on some sweats and decided to go for a walk... well, a jog... well, that turn out to be a 5.5k run (slow pace but still a run).

It felt really good, and it was just what I needed.
I made a couple of stops, to take pictures!



Vit D, fresh air and getting a good workout always make me feel energized and empowered... at the very least I can say - I DID IT!!!

Tuesday was Work Work Work and more Work . At the last minute, my Chain of Command decided that I had to go to Quebec City - NICE!!! A surprise visit to my home town, so an overnight (for business) at my sister's place, one more night with my daughter Emma ...

I did not workout on Tuesday - because of work and travel arrangements, but I needed a day off anyway. Not so much rest, nor sleep but it was worth it!

The positive - I did not binge! AND I tracked it all and I stayed in range!

Wednesday was a very long day. I drove my daughter to College
(I am so proud of what she is becoming!)

spent the day on Base Valcartier...

... had a quick girl dinner out before catching my flight to go back home!
(next trip to Qc will be to celebrate the new Year! and Run the Resolution Run... get ready sister, you can do this!)


(Next time I see my big girl, she will be visiting us for Thanksgiving!)

Thursday - The hardest is not to fall behind excuses...
"I have a training plan and I AM following it!" This was my mantra for the day.

Taking some time for me is not counterproductive (or taking me further behind with work) it helps me think better! I think a lot when I am running.

I was very happy to be back home. Maggie was too, I took her for an haircut!


We will have a good weekend.
1) Catching up on sleep!
2) Sticking to my training plan - going for 30k run tomorrow AM. (I had to do a lot of planning for this one because I run alone and I typically don't take anything with me. I will do 2X 15k with a water stop and Clif power Gel Chocolate (yummi!) mid-run.
3) My meals are all planned! Just need to get groceries... and perhaps pick some strawberries for a special desert - light strawberry shortcake!
4) I am not cooking dinner on Saturday - my DH will make a roast, veggies and salad! and later we will go out on a date - for some dry peanuts and a glass of wine.
5) Walk to the library with my daughter and chilling on Sunday.
