Foggy Friday

Friday, September 27, 2013

Strange day today.. it was 79 degrees, but a crawling, sinister, creepy looking fog hovered over roofs, then sank like cotton to the ground and visibility was about three feet most of the morning. It was eerie and the perfect special effect for spooky themed parties!!
By the time I drove home from work this afternoon, the sky was bright blue, sunny and no fog in sight!! Great Lakes effect,, kind of like the California coast.
Until I was out there, I assumed, like most people do who do not live there, that all of the beaches were bright, sunny sandy places with hunky bodies, clean as a whistle and like the movies portray. Truth be told, in California, the Pacific coastal beaches are foggy all morning until about ten or eleven o'clock when the fog finally burns off.
Michigan beaches are never foggy in hot weather.. unless it is a rainy day all day.

DD and I continued to run errands again today: bathing supplies to mom at her place, grocery shopping and then a picnic in the city park across town.. Just the two of us at the picnic table, enjoying the weather and quiet.
Our town is now having "The River Of Time" which is a four day Civil War re-enactment in one of our big parks on this side of the river. I have not been to it in many years, but they have an Abe Lincoln actor, U.S Grant, etc roam around and people living their in their tents cooking and shaving, battles, etc for we twenty First Century peeps to observe.

This adds quite a few thousand more people in the mix on Friday rushing around..

I am glad we did it all, this weekend is all about cleaning, cutting back my berry bushes for winter, car cleaning..

I love fog like that! One of the parks here is basically a small lake with a path around it, and I love being there early in the morning when the fog is rising off the lake. It's beautiful.

Oh, and that civil war thing? Would totally catch my dorky interest.

Hope your weekend is off to a spiffy start!

Good grief! I feel tired just reading about it.

Don't get ambushed by a regiment of Johnny Rebs marching out of the fog. :)

Your re-enactment sounds like a nice few days.
Will you both be going or staying away from the crowds.
Our son is in Sheboygan but his furniture is still not there as planned so it will likely be Monday. He is looking forward to getting to work on Wednesday He is hoping WI is like Maine as many people told him it is. Some time I will go to see him. HUGS Pat in Maine.

We've had some low fog mornings in town, but up on this hill, I am mostly above the fog. It sure changes the whole look of a place, doesn't it?
