Healthy Recipe #1

Friday, September 27, 2013

I saw on SparkPeople yesterday this Healthy Eating challenge, and I thought it would be a good place to start as far as having better meal options for myself. I tried a recipe, if you can call it that. It's not really a recipe, just combining a cup of fat free Greek yogurt and a tablespoon of honey. Oh. My. !!!!

This is delicious! I think I've just solved a few problems. The obvious one being its a healthy snack and fat free. The secondary issue it solves, I am not going to go buy other flavored Greek yogurts for more calories and more money, when I stock up it takes up a bunch of room in the fridge.

So, thanks SparkPeople. Can't wait to try another recipe!

Edit: just tracked the calories...184 calories for the two ingredients. Which, there are lower cal Greek yogurts out there. However, I'm still nuts about this combination. The honey we use is from our friends bees. Locally raised honey supposedly aids in preventing allergy problems, so I've heard.

That sounds yummy! Right now I'm stuck on coconut Greek Chobani yogurt, I love it! If you like coconut, try mixing some into your yogurt - it's delicious! AND you can use the coconut for all kinds of other things so it doesn't just sit there: coat chicken or shrimp or salmon in it and bake, a salad topping, in a tuna or chicken salad with cranberries, or dipping sliced apples into it, mix into protein shakes, etc.

I love me some coconut! Hehe.
