day off day

Friday, September 27, 2013

I'm off today burning some vacation. I hit the coveted 4 weeks of vacation time this year and since I already have the maximum 80 hours banked I need to take all of it or it will vanish. Last year I didn't plan it out as well and ended up "on vacation" in late December sitting at my kitchen table with my laptop scrambling to get some reports done.

There are times like today when I spend the day cleaning the house and later on I'll be standing in line at the grocery store thinking this is NOT a proper vacation, but it's much more of a proper vacation than doing reports in the kitchen.

My plan today is to go for a run, do some cleaning, and then pack up for a weekend in the mountains. This means making a banana pudding for my dad.

But first some quality coffee time

I'm in a lose or use situation too ... but cannot seem to find the time to take off of work. In a way I know that I should not complain about it ... I have a job ... I have lots of vacation ...

Earlier in the year I took a week off and my wife and I used it to get massive amounts of work done around the house. I guess in a way it was sort of a vacation.

And ... you're right, at least you did not take some vacation time to do work from home! Blech on that. And .... I hope you have a fun time in the mountain!

Been there done that. I can only bank 80 hours of vacation time and anyting over that it's a use or loose deal. I have ended up having to take time off work with nothing planned and usually work in the yard or watch a movie. Work has been so short handed for a spell that it's hard to plan a week off to go somewhere. I hope you enjoy your hike in the mountains. I wish there were mountains in Florida so maybe I will hike a nature trail with my dog. Take care my friend and relax!
