I joined Sparkpeople on 8/14/2010. I found a journal that I kept for a bit after joining. Perhaps it would be interesting to others to see my thoughts at the start of my journey.


"8-15-2010 I joined sparkpeople yesterday. I have felt bad a lot of the summer and have gained an average of 3 lbs/month since I retired. When I went for a recheck at Dr. ______'s, I saw a number on the scale I don't think I saw even when I was pregnant. I didn't want to go to weekly meetings and wasn't sure about $$$ for WW or TOPS, so I joined sparkpeople.com. I have tracked my food, water, and I walked 1/2 mile this morning. I have been depressed for days but feel better today by doing something for me! I should reach my goal 7/2011, but should look much better by our Pensacola trip."

and that's where my real-life journal ended...I had lost about 40# from August to 12-7.


I made it into Onederland in January 2011. I was so excited. I hadn't been under 200 for 15 years at least.

I reached my goal of 150 in October 2012. I then proceeded to not watch as carefully - I forgot about ME being important and quit tracking, etc for awhile - and so I have gone back and forth a few pounds in the 160s.


I have increased exercise over that time period tremendously, though. I decided I did like to eat emoticon , but don't mind my exercise, so I have re-set my trackers to lose 1/2 to 1 # per week, and that seems to do the job for me.


I am currently trying to get 400 exercise minutes per week as part of a BLC goal that I set for myself. That is a number that is a bit of a challenge for me, but it is a good challenge, because exercise manages my stress somewhat. I couldn't tolerate meds for it, so that is a good thing that exercise helps so much. I am also back to tracking, tracking, tracking, and my BLC goal is to get into the 150s again before the end of the challenge 12 weeks from now.
