Another 0.7kgs lost overnight! Excellent! I am starting to see cheekbones again (LOL)!
Yesterday was my first day of logging my food and I was within range but I failed to meet my recommended carbs and fat percentage - I was below range but not by much. I made a last minute decision to save half of the salmon steak that I was having for dinner to include into a salad today. The logging of food and getting within recommended range will take some practice. I am surprised how quickly calories add up. I ended up having 3 glasses of white wine last night - one whilst preparing dinner, one whilst having dinner and one after dinner! That can't be good for metabolism, but I had been abstaining from alcohol over the past 7 days so it was a special treat night - salmon and wine!!
I am a fairly systematic person and I like comforts and conveniences (a Taurean trait!), so I have set up a few things which make my life easier.
1) To save me measuring the water quantities, I have a 1.5 litre jug of water in the fridge which I make sure I consume during each day - I put lemon juice in it to save me adding that to each glass and I often exceed the 1.5 litre quantity. I also consume green tea on top of the 1.5 litres. So I feel I am getting my quota of water each day.
2) I have a batch of vegetable soup (the wonder soup from the GM diet) in my fridge at all times - I usually dip into this at least twice a day for a snack - I throw a bowl in the microwave on reheat and it is ready in 4 minutes. That way I can never get caught in a trap of what to snack on! I have back up batches of this soup in the freezer and when I am on my last batch I make another big pot of it and freeze it in batches.
3) What has been working really well for me is having a rolling salad in the fridge that I can grab at any time. I make up a large quantity of salad in a large plastic container with lid which keeps it fresh for 3-4 days. I alter the salad by changing what I add to it. For example the other day I added 2 heaped tablespoons of brown rice and fresh orange wedges and drizzled it in orange juice, prior to that I added tofu. Yesterday I added one cut up hard boiled egg and 4 cut up anchovies (see photo). Today I plan to add some olives and feta cheese. The dressing I have been using on the salad has been either lemon juice or balsamic vinegar (prefer white balsamic). This dramatically changes the whole salad as if I've just created it from scratch and it took very little time and effort because the salad was already made.

I also keep fruit in the fridge and a supply of hard boiled eggs so there is always a healthy snack on hand if needed. I can never be caught out that way.
The last thing I am doing well is portion control - I have considerably reduced the amount of food that I eat and I am still just as satisfied, if not more satisfied! I have also reduced the size of the plates and bowls I use and that has been helpful.
Throughout this process, and with the knowledge I am gaining from this website and from others, my respect for food is increasing 100 fold which gives me a whole new appreciation for good food and the purpose of food in our lives. In fact I'd go as far as to say that it is not only food that I am respecting and appreciating, it is flowing through to an appreciation of my body shape and type and how it works and performs etc. Now that's a huge statement to be starting to appreciate me for being me!
At times my mood borders on euphoria - I am just so delighted and blessed and feel so healthy and appreciative.
It is just all about me, me, me at the moment !! LOL
